The short explanation of this alert was:

THE ISSUE:

The Michigan Senate passed a series of budget cuts this week that would drastically slash the Home Help program.

 

They would:

  • Eliminate the wage increase our coalition fought for last year that gave a 0.50 cent increase for all home care workers earning $7 per hour or more.
  • Further cut wages for home care workers in about a dozen other counties.
  • Cut the hours of care that seniors and persons with disabilities receive by at least 10%.
